A crooked door is often a cable

Each side of the door has a lift cable that winds onto a drum. If one slips or frays, that side drops and the door goes up crooked, jams, or slams. Damp weather is hard on cables and they rust from the inside.

We replace the cables in pairs so both sides lift evenly, check the drums and springs, and test the door all the way up and down before we leave.

Questions

Cable repair questions

Is a loose cable dangerous?

It can be. The cable works with the spring under tension. Leave the door where it is, keep people and cars clear, and call us.

Why did my cable come off?

Usually a worn cable, a broken spring that let it go slack, or a door that hit something on the way down.

Do you replace both cables?

Yes, we normally replace them as a pair so the door lifts evenly and the other side does not fail next.

How long does a cable repair take?

Most cable jobs are done in one visit. We will give you the price before we start.
